A Timeless Universe

Authors: Sougata Jana

Time is conventionally treated as a fundamental parameter of physical reality. We propose an alternative axiomatic framework in which the universe is postulated as a closed, maximally entangled quantum many-body system with nofundamental notion of time. In this framework, observers are finite quantumsubsystems with limited information-processing capacity, preventing access tothe complete universal state. We argue that the perceived flow of time emergesfrom observer-dependent reconstruction of incomplete information rather thanfrom an intrinsic temporal dimension. This perspective establishes a timelessinformation-theoretic description of the universe and provides a mathematicalfoundation for investigating the emergence of temporal order, observation, andclassical reality within a unified quantum framework.
