If strong earthquakes stimulate the earth to vibrate, a high-frequency amplitude modulation can be measured in addition to the exponential decrease in amplitude. The precisely defined modulation frequencies (sums and differences of known natural frequencies) can be explained by nonlinear laws within the earth. Four spectral lines may be generated by the movement of the Earth's core relative to the Earth's crust. Thus, the long-sought Slichter triplet could be identified.
