Can Machines Think? Revisited

Authors: Sakshum Gadyal

The question whether a machine can think has a special place in computer science and modern philosophy. It has avoided the clear answer as no one know what it means to 'Think'. We all experience it though. Alan Turing developed one possible approach by not answering the question directly but by comparing the actions taken by machine and a human under same circumstances(The Turing Test). However, like any other approach, Turing test is not an absolute measure of intelligence of a system. The purpose this article is simple, to approach the question directly, by giving some arguments...

Discrete Space and Zeno's Paradoxe "The Moving Rows or Stadium"

Authors: Anton Chernikov
Comments: Pages.

In this article, I consider the construction of a model of a physical space with discrete space, matter and time. For such a space, the emergence of a contradiction of the analogous Zeno’s paradoxe "Stadium" is shown. I show the elimination of the contradiction of this paradoxe with the introduction of the concept of the order of time’s motion. The assumption about influence of time’s motion on transfer of the information about location of a matter in space that in turn can influence the future arrangement of a matter in space is advanced.

From 0 to 1+1=2: On the Grand Unified Theory in Philosophy

Authors: Lei Shi

The conflict between formal logic and dialectical logic is a big problem in philosophy. This paper attempts to unify them by dialectics. Using unified methodology, we can unify all theories and establish the Grand Unified Theory in philosophy. Here we show that we must accept that there is no difference in the world and nothing makes differences which lead to matter and consciousness at the same time. That everything comes from nothing and matter and consciousness are unified, is the Grand Unified Theory in philosophy.

Resolution to the Liar Paradox.

Authors: Ameet Sharma

We present a resolution to the liar paradox. The basic idea is that the liar sentence is ambiguous. Depending on the method of analysis of the liar sentence, it can express a true proposition, a false proposition or no proposition at all. There is no logical contradiction since we never get two truth values for the same proposition. We can avoid this problem of ambiguous sentences by always using the same rules of analysis for a sentence every time.

4 Science Letters

Authors: Rodney Bartlett
Comments: 6 Pages. Previous versions unsuccessfully submitted to Nature, New Space, Medical Journal of Australia

These letters cannot, I've discovered, be published in science or medical journals. In the first case, they don't conform to editorial standards which say they aren't suitable for the Correspondence (Letter to Editor) section. In the second case, the relevant letter (3) is not based on "evidence-based medicine" (ideas limited to verification by present technology). So it appears that the only way to express these thoughts is to be nonconformist, give science higher priority than editorial matters, and offer them to the preprint vixra.org. The 4 letters are: Letter 1 - Broken Infinity (paragraphs kept getting added to this original letter, so some references are included in the letter while some are listed at the end) Letter 2 - "Unscientific" Possibilities Of A Universal Unified Theory Letter 3 - Science's Resurrected Immortals Letter 4 - New Space-time Travel
