Researchers have used advanced imaging approaches to achieve super-resolution microscopy at unprecedented speeds.  The unique platform, which is referred as a 4-D microscope, combines the sensitivity and high time-resolution of phase imaging with the specificity and high spatial resolution of fluorescence microscopy.  The experiment relied on a soliton frequency comb generated in a chip-based optical microresonator made from silicon nitride.  This scientific achievement toward more precise control and monitoring of light is highly interesting for miniaturizing optical devices for sensing and signal processing.
