Providing an explanation of dark energy has proved difficult and elusive. Using the principles of Informativity—a model based on counts of fundamental measures of length, mass and time—an understanding of the expansion of our universe is resolved. Several expressions—mass, density, age of the universe, Hubble’s constant, observable matter and dark energy—are presented that exemplify the approach and mathematical procedures. The postulates of Informativity change our understanding of space and provide a framework with which to understand the phenomenon of dark energy.
